Greek Salad

Greek salad is a summer salad dish made with pieces of tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, green bell peppers, onion, sliced or cubed feta cheese, and olives (usually Kalamata olives, other types of olives may be used as well), typically seasoned with salt and dried oregano, and dressed with olive oil. Common additions include the pickled leaves, buds or berries of capers, rocket (arugula) leaves, vinegar, lemon juice, and chopped parsley.


Souvlaki

Souvlaki is a popular Greek food consisting of small pieces of meat and sometimes vegetables grilled on a skewer. It may be served on the skewer for eating out of hand, in a pita sandwich with garnishes and sauces, or on a dinner plate, often with fried potatoes. The meat usually used in s pork although chicken and lamb may also be used. The word souvlaki is a diminutive of the Greek σούβλα souvla 'skewer'.


Sofigado

A traditional plate dating back to the Venetic period. Sofigado is made with beef meat without bones that is baked with some oil, onions and various other ingredients like rosemary, petimezi (sweet syrup), vinegar, tomato paste and garlic. As soon as the meat is almost ready, potatoes or quinces are added and are baked with the mixture until the sauce is brownish and thick. A savoury dish with sweet and sour taste.


Savori fish

The recipe can be made with picarels, ells, mullets or bonito fish fried in a pan and then poured with a sauce made of oli, vinegar, garlic, laurel, rosemary and black raisin. The dish can be served as soon as it is cold, since this is a very effective way to preserve it for more time.


Karidopita


Karidopita is a very popular Greek dessert, flavorful walnut cake that is flavored with cinnamon and bathed in sweet syrup . It’s a “must” for all the tourists who visit our country. Walnut cake is bathed in syrup. The result is soft and the color is brown. I’m very sure that everyone will be satisfied once you tasted it.


Rice pie - rizopita

Rice Pie is a quite rare and special kind of pie in Greece. It is a traditional recipe of the island of Lefkada and its preparation is easy. If you want to make the filling more tasty, you can add some walnuts or raisins.
Ingredients:
- 6 or 8 eggs
- 2 teacups of rice
- 6 teacups of milk
- 2 teacups of water
- 200gr feta tea
- some sugar (optional)
- some butter
- salt
